RALLY CARS RETURN TO HANMER SPRINGS FOREST

On September 28 and 29, 2002 the Hanmer Motorsport Weekend will have the forests around Hanmer Springs echoing to the sound of revving rally cars, with the return of the Autosport Club's Hanmer Rally and Sprint. These two exciting events, sponsored again this year by the Hot Springs Hotel Hanmer, promise a lot of action as the cars traverse first the Rally on Saturday the 28th, and then the Sprint on Sunday the 29th.

The Carter Holt Harvey forest roads will be the focus of both events. The rally is 91km of special stages and 70km of touring, with one central service park area. A publicity autocross stage will be held in farmland adjacent to SH7a, 2.5km south of Hanmer, starting at 12:45pm Saturday the 28th. The sprint will be on a similar 5km piece of road to that used by the rally.

Both events attract crews from many regions, with a large variety of cars featuring. This year the Autosport Club warmly invite entries and encourage people to enter early as the start list for this popular event may fill quickly.
